Faruk Akbas

 

Faruk Akbas, one of the foremost travel and documentary photographers in Turkey, has been photographing professionally for 35 years worldwide. In his photography he focuses on human beings within the environment and space.
His photography have being published in international newspapers and magazines such as National Geographic and Daily Telegraph, as well as the most popular magazines and newspapers in his country. His photography, narrating nature, cultural and historical values, were published in the books of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey and also in the art books of private cultural institutions.
Since 1995, as the author of Photography Magazine, the artist has been publishing many books such as Photography Guide of Turkey, Travel Photography, Photography in Digital World, Photography in Pocket and Practical Composition in Photography.
In 1993, Akbas founded The Photography House in İstanbul, where exhibitions, workshops, bull sessions were organized and he established Art Camp in 1999.
Next to his photography he has produced several documentary films such as ” Travelling Far Away” (photography trips to Asia and Africa), “Life in Nature” , “Costumes of Anatolia” and “Pursuit of Light”.
The artist has participated to jury in various film and photography competitions.
