Gerard Schoone was born in 1952 and is living and working in Amsterdam.
He started his career in microbiology and is currently working as a product designer and freelance photographer. Over the years he held several solo and group exhibitions both in lighting design and photography.
His latest work embodying a series of images of majestic seagulls along the canals of Amsterdam. The combination of air acrobatics of the seagulls against the background of the ancient city result in unique images of Amsterdam. The Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam acquired several of these images for their collection. “Most people consider seagulls as a plague but they are impressed once confronted with their acrobatic skills”, says Gerard Schoone.
